Villa victorious but Shenstone are on right Path
Pathfinder Legends were beaten 5-3 in the game which saw Villa feature some of their 1982 European Cup winning side – Gordon Cowans, Colin Gibson, Tony Morley, Ken McNaught and Jimmy Rimmer.
Shenstone frustrated Villa for the first 30 minutesbut Martin Carruthers broke the deadlock with a far post header and he soon added two more to complete his hat-trick.
Pathfinder's Adrian Hughes pulled a goal back but Morley – who earlier blasted a penalty over the bar – made it 4-1.
Shenstone won a penalty themselves after Hughes was felled in the box and Adam Pearce converted against his boyhood heroes.
Villa netted again as Carruthers took his personal tally to four for the day but Paths kept a clean sheet in the second half and even netted another goal themselves through Adam Simpson.
Pathfinder FC would like to thank match sponsors Perrins Mechanical Services, DSM and everyone who turned out to make it a great afternoon for the club.
Tony Morley, Pat Heard, Ken McNaught, Gordon Cowans, Colin Gibson.
