AN ALIEN with a lemon-shaped head tried to entice two Burntwood lads into its giant flying saucer, according to 'X Files' released by the Ministry of Defence.

The frightened youths ran to the police – whose subsequent report became one of hundreds of secret records of alleged UFOs.

Released this week as part of a three-year project between the MoD and The National Archives, the Burntwood extra-terrestrial is still steeped in mystery.

"We want you, come with us," the lemon-headed figure told the boys, according to the report from 1995.

The lads told Chasetown police they saw the figure in a field off Rugeley Road, opposite the junction with Hunslett Road, just before midnight on May 4.

The farmer later told investigating officers that he was using a crop spraying machine in the field – and had not experienced any close encounters himself.

No further witnesses turned up.

The police report says the boys arrived at the station 'agitated and distressed' after gazing at the silent UFO, which emitted an intense heat before zig-zagging off from east to west.

"They stated the object was about four houses high in the sky and about 40 foot away from them," said the report.

"They then, reluctantly, went on to say that a voice which came from a lemon-like head, which appeared beneath the machine, said 'we want you, come with us'.

"Both appeared upset and shocked and as such it was increasingly difficult to obtain detailed information from them."

Police sent the boys home with instructions to write up their account of the silver-coloured, saucer-shaped object with a glowing red hue.

"We felt this intense burst of heat which I just couldn't believe," one boy wrote.

"I found it hard to breathe, swallow and the sweat was just pouring off me."

The lads claimed to have been drawn into the field by the alleged spaceship and its other-worldly pilot but ran off.

"I could hardly breathe and we turned around, it just shot off in the air and the sky didn't light up," the boy added.

"It just went. Vanished."

At the end of his account, he describes 'the face' as having veins around the neck and possibly wearing a helmet.

"The head thing had holes but there weren't eyes," the boy added.

Although the policeman on duty at the time allowed himself to be dragged outside by the boys to see for himself, he was apparently less impressed with the 'UFO'.

"There was a red light visible in the distance but this could quite easily have been a civil airline," he wrote in the report.
