Elegance of city must be saved

SINCE the recent letters on the Tesco fiasco, may I just say that it is good to know there are some people in Lichfield who have regard to the elegance of the city's past.

St John's House has been beautifully restored facing the street, and all credit to those responsible.

Let us hope that whatever replaces the car dealership on the corner opposite St John's Hospital will be built with such sympathy and understanding of the way into the city.
