Apologies over parking ticket
We were very concerned to hear about this case, and instantly investigated it.
On reflection, because Mr Webster had sent in the valid parking ticket – which had fallen off the dashboard of his car – his parking ticket should have been cancelled at the first appeals stage.
We're grateful for the Mercury for drawing this to our attention, and would like to apologise for the inconvenience this has caused.
We are now double-checking our appeals procedure to make sure misunderstandings don't happen in the future.
In the meantime, we will be writing to Mr Webster to tell him that his parking ticket has been cancelled and to apologise for the error.
We do hope it hasn't put him off from visiting Lichfield again as there is so much to see and do, one visit can't possibly be enough!
Ruth Plant, director of operational services, Lichfield District Council.
