Dr Hook frontman Dennis Locorriere.
ONE of the world's 'finest voices' is coming back to the area next week.
Dr Hook frontman Dennis Locorriere will be making a welcome return to the Assembly Rooms on Wednesday (December 2).
Dennis sang every major hit the band had and was the only member on every Dr Hook recording.
He amassed more than 60 gold and platinum records, scoring number one hits in more than 42 countries.
Worldwide hits include Sylvia's Mother, When You're In Love With A Beautiful Woman, A Little Bit More and the original and definitive version of The Ballad Of Lucy Jordan.
The band spent 300 days a year on the road for 15 years. And they clocked up another gold record last year when Dennis's concept, the Hits and History CD, was released.
But Dr Hook really is only the early part of Dennis Locorriere's story.
He appeared in a major movie with Dustin Hoffman. He starred at New York City's Lincoln Centre in a universally acclaimed one-man play, The Devil And Billy Markham.
And he has written songs that have been recorded by a wide variety of other artists, including Bob Dylan, Olivia Newton-John and Willie Nelson.
He recently starred as part of the all-star line-up for the Dear Mr fantasy Concert at London's Roundhouse, alongside Steve Winwood, Paul Weller, Pete Townshend, Yusuf Islam, Joe Walsh, Gary Moore, Bill Wyman, Jon Lord and a host of other stars.
Dennis returns to the UK this year celebrating the very best of his own solo work and the wonderful catalogue of classic songs and recordings from his former band.
Tickets for his Assembly Rooms gig are £16 full price and £15 concessions. They are available from Tamworth Tourist Information Centre, Market Street, or by calling the box office on 01827 709618.
